Born Nora Louise Kuzma on the 7th May 1968, in Steubenville Ohio, Traci Lords has forged a path for herself like no other. Her life reads like a Jackie Collins novel, but what lies underneath the hype and mythology is one very smart lady, for whom I have a lot of admiration.

As a teen runaway she began a career that would almost single-handedly bring down the sex industry at 15. She made around 100 movies between 1984 and 1986...that she was underage, and was playing a dangerous game that duped the entire porn community, came out a little before she became legal. On discovery Traci, whose stage name comes from her best friend at school and her Hawaii five-0 actor Jack Lord, won a court case, that would have seen her and those producers she'd played prosecuted, and went on to make the only now legal porn movie of her career on her 18th birthday. Which she holds all rights to. She was outcast from the sex industry aged 18, and has never looked back.

Putting her early career firmly behind her she has made a choice to keep herself covered, though often playing sexy seductresses. With cult movie roles in such classics as John Walter's Cry-Baby, alongside Johnny Depp, and a small but impressive role in vampire blockbuster Blade, Traci has at last become the respected actress she deserves to be credited as.

Landing roles in Melrose Place and then Profiler, Traci has made a name as a fully fledged lead actress. Playing Jordan Radcliffe in First Wave gave her the opportunity to play to her strengths, smart, feisty and full of attitude. But that isn't all there is to this woman, she also has produced and written her own album, 1000 Fires, produced some of her own movies and is also credited as a makeup artist in one production. There is no question that she has more to offer, the only question is what will she choose to turn her considerable talent to next?

To me, her addition to the cast of First Wave was a stroke of genius, giving the third season a well needed lift. That other fans seemed to make up their minds about her before Jordan even hit the screen, based on her past, was hugely unfair. Jordan Radcliffe was by far the most interesting and fun female character to appear in First Wave, it was timely for Cade to have a woman in his life and who better than a kindred spirit? My one complaint however was that the relationship wasn't explored, or given a chance to flourish, and I suspect that was because of the negative reaction of the fans. Jordan was the catalyst that made season three of First Wave my favorite, and no other actress could have done the job better than the fabulous Traci Lords.
